Shades of Summer 22/23: The Colour Report

Shades of Summer 22/23: The Colour Report

There has been an explosion of colour across your favourite brands in the last year, which has been a joyful step change to the neutral colour palette which has dominated for the best part of a decade.

With colour still reigning supreme on the SS23 runways, what colours can we expect to shop this season and beyond?

Lemon

Head to toe lemon was seen across Proenza, Max Mara and Bluemarine runways, and locally we are seeing this summery hue in Oroton, Assembly and Viktoria & Woods just to name a few.

Lemon looks amazing on muted skin tones, but if you are someone who feels washed out by lemon, experiment with this colour with pieces that don’t sit next to your face. Think a tailored linen pant, skirt or even accessories such as a summery clutch or pop heel.

Barbie Pink

With the Barbie film starring Margot Robbie gracing our screens in 2023, Barbiecore mania has swept the fashion scene with all shades of pink popping up everywhere. This was most famously executed by Valentino who created PierPaolo Pink- a brand new Pantone shade this year.

With hot pink the hottest pink of all, here are some of our picks to shop. Barbie pink isn’t going anywhere!

Lilac

Lilac is lemon’s soft, pretty, feminine little sister. Unlike the pink toned lilacs we saw 5 years ago, 2022 lilac has more of a blue undertone.

The key to wearing lilac, is to steer clear of overly feminine details, and stick to cool, contemporary silhouettes. Think clean lines, tailoring or even a crisp linen.

Team this hue back with light neutral tones such as white, which will keep your fit airy and seasonal.

Tennis Green

Over the last couple of years, we have seen Bottega green as the green du jour grace our favourite designers and brands, however with the preppy sub-trend bubbling up, this has evolved into a hue of green reminiscent of traditional tennis green.

Best worn with white, this tone works well on most skin tones, and looks perfect when served in tailored looks. Think crisp poplin shirts with a white and green stripe or accents on a white leather sneaker. Pimms served separately.
